First trainees to be released are working with us

We are delighted to report that participants from our course within HMP Brixton are now starting to be released and we see the rewards from our training first hand. The first two came out a few weeks ago and both are now working with us in paid positions.

The first was a star participant in the workshop, clearly demonstrating his skill and experience.  In his exit review the trainers highlighted his previous site work and his infectious personality. Shortly after being released he attended an interview in our office in central London. The necessary supports were set up and as he already had a CSCS card he was soon working on site.  After a short period of voluntary work he is now a paid team operative working on one of our largest sites in West London.

The second entered the workshop in Brixton as a beginner with a willing attitude to learn a new skill.  Comments from the training centre were that he was a pleasure to teach but his skill acquisition was basic. Being keen to engage with Bounce Back in the community he called us soon after he was released.  Not having a CSCS so we worked with another agency to provide him with support to practice and pay for his test.  Now having passed his test he successfully completed a voluntary period to become a paid employee within our Social Enterprise as of yesterday.

It is great to be able to train for employment upon release.
