Creating Opportunity, One Brushstroke at a Time
In the heart of Tottenham, we recently undertook a youth project aimed at improving routes to employment. This initiative brings together community support, structured learning, and practical skills training to open doors for those who are looking for a new direction and opportunities.
One of our flagship programmes teaches painting and decorating – more than a trade, it’s a powerful tool for transformation. Through carefully designed City & Guilds digitally assured courses, we guide learners through every step of the process, building both confidence and whetting the appetite for further learning.
“The course was enjoyable. I learnt things about colour that I thought I knew but didn’t really. It will help me with my art and in the industry – I am planning to join friends who are already decorating.” – Participant, Colour Theory
The participants designed and agreed on a fit-for-purpose colour scheme and then, as a team, decorated a room as part of their Painting a Room by Sequence City & Guilds Digital Assurance course. Six participants commenced training on the Monday; six achieved Colour Theory and Painting a Room by Sequence, with all six attending every day of the project. It’s more than just paint – it’s about taking ownership, teamwork, and understanding a client’s needs.
“John taught us really good. This was really useful and necessary to keep the customer happy. It has been good, and I am really glad I decided to do the course.” – Participant, Painting a Room by Sequence
As the learners progressed, we noticed those with leadership skills, those with the drive to learn more, and all with enthusiasm. These individuals have the potential to take their learning to the next level, gain experience, become self-employed or work with Bounce Back to gain paid employment.
Every step forward is recognised. Bounce Back works with City & Guilds to develop bespoke digital credentials, so that skills development can be recognised. These credentials are designed to be easily shared and accessible, providing portable and verifiable information about an individual’s qualifications. They can be displayed on social media, websites, or shared via email – valuable to the holder and to potential employers.
With strong foundations in place, learners are encouraged to progress to further training, supported every step of the way by our dedicated Bounce Back team — with a shout-out to the DIVERT team for their ongoing commitment and impact.
At Bounce Back, we’re not just teaching trades. We empower individuals with the foundations and support to confidently shape their own futures.
