Sue Killen Sees First-Hand the Impact of Bounce Back
We were proud to welcome Sue Killen, Chair of the Board of Trustees at Change Grow Live to Bounce Back’s prison training programme at HMP Brixton and DIVERT’s custody intervention teams at Brixton Police Custody Suite. The visit gave Sue an in-depth look at how our teams are working across the criminal justice system to support individuals at critical moments and provide genuine opportunities for change.
Sue began her visit at the HMP Brixton Training Department, where she was warmly welcomed by the Head of Training and introduced to the Bounce Back team before touring our workshop.
Following this she then went to the Police custody suite at Brixton where she was given a full tour by Billy and introduced to inspectors, team members, and managers who work on the frontline of our diversion work. She gained a full picture of a “day in the life” of DIVERT, witnessing the professionalism and compassion with which our staff meet young adults who have found themselves in custody.
Later in the day, Sue joined our Senior Leadership Team to reflect on the visit and discuss how our approach supports long-term reform and better outcomes for individuals and communities alike.
“It was incredibly powerful to witness first-hand how the Bounce Back and DIVERT teams are working at the heart of the criminal justice system—giving people a second chance, working to reduce reoffending, and truly transforming lives” – Sue Killen, Chair of the Board of Trustees at Change Grow Live.
Sue and the team discussed the strong synergy between the work of Bounce Back and the work of the parent charity Change Grow Live. The commitment to “believing in people” and the power of transforming lives was a thread that linked all the work.
We’re incredibly grateful to Sue for taking the time to connect with our teams and for her continued support of our work. The visit was a strong reminder of the power of early intervention, reform, community engagement, and belief in people’s ability to change.
